Our History

United Association Local #430 is the result of a consolidation of locals #205, #351, #397, #767 into local #430 on Dec. 1st., 1997.
The strong points of each local union were brought together to create a new and better Local.
With this consolidation approximately 1500 UA trained journeymen and apprentices were
brought together as charter members of Local #430.

What is the United Association?

The United Association is an effective International union made up of the most skilled pipe tradesmen the construction industry has ever known. It is a union which protects its members and jurisdiction at every level. The United Association is composed of journeymen and apprentices in every division of the plumbing and pipe fitting industry.

Why consider joining our union?

The voices of many are louder then the voice of an individual. The United Association speaks for its members, working to achieve job security, health and welfare benefits, a living wage, a safe working environment, and a comfortable pension.

What can the United Association do for you?

The United Association and its local unions work to provide members a fair wage and safe working conditions, process grievances, and protect members from unjust and the injurious competition.

What type of work is performed by United Association members?

United Association members work in a variety of settings from bungalows to power stations and the computer chip industry, doing new construction and maintenance, air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and plumbing service work.

Union membership in the Pipe Trades will assure that you have the greatest potential to become the finest craftsman available anywhere in the world. All the while, you will secure health care benefits for you and your family in addition to a defined benefit and defined contribution pension plan to carry you into retirement.

Local 430 has entered into Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) with our signatory Contractor Associations. Our agreements establish the guidelines of employment encompassing wages, fringe benefit package, and other terms and conditions of employment. The CBA sets forth a standard of rules and guidelines to direct and protect both the employer and the employee.

UA Local 430 is on the forefront of assuring that its membership is provided with a sound pension plan, so they may enjoy the fruits of a well deserved retirement after a full career in the pipe trades.

As a part of the fringe benefit package, every hour worked by a Local 430 member includes contributions made towards the UA National Pension Fund Defined Benefit (DB) Plan and the Local 430 Annuity Defined Contribution (DC) Plan. Members may also choose to add additional hourly tax deferred contributions (401K) to their DC pension.

The Local 430 Annuity Plan is a self directed investment program with multiple investment choices offered through New York Life Retirement Services.
